Update : Several version updates later no new problems have appeared and everything above still applies. Here is the version information for when this article was written:

Hamlib ic 7800 setup software#

I suspect one of the many software updates over the months addressed it. All the symptoms mentioned above have gone away mysteriously and it runs without any hiccups. The actual list of supported radios depends on the hamlib version. Some say data over USB is not ready for prime time. I also notice if I change something else on the PC it can make the IC-7600/WSJT-X fail. I tried going into the USB settings on the PC in Device Manager, Power Management and disabling sleep mode. Going into WSJT-X setup screen, configuration, and pressing “Test CAT Control” seems to fix the issue til next time. It wakes back up when the pc and the radio are awake but CAT fails anyway. Note that CAT stops working when the USB goes into sleep mode.

Remember we have to use CAT because VOX is not connected internally by ICOM. Here are screen snaps of how I did it.Ĭhange all the “Data” fields to USB on the IC-7600 and the audio is taken care of. PTT using vox does not work with USB because Icom does not feed a decoded audio stream from the USB chip to the vox circuit. The IC-7600 reportedly uses a Silicon Labs CP210x) The FlexRadio Community is a forum where members can interact with one another and directly with company employees to enhance the operating experience with our products and services. OH MY GOD I spent 2 hours messing around trying to get my 7600 to play and after reading your instructions within 3 minutes I had it working. (Note the USB chipset in the IC-7600 is not the TI PCM2900 series with it’s known audio level bug. Mark, I want to thank you for your posting site Configuring the IC-7600 and WSJT-X for operation using a USB cable. I just googled the name in device manager to find it.

Hamlib ic 7800 setup driver#

It should have loaded the driver automatically but I had to download a driver manually to make it work. Step one is to make sure the PC recognizes the IC-7600 usb hardware in device manager. I use the following command line to invoke rigctl: rigctl -m 3081 -r /dev/ttyUSB0 -s 9600 -c 0圆0. I can successfully control my IC-9700 using rigctl. Audio both ways over the USB is straightforward and PTT over USB is easy if you’re willing to use CAT. I have Gpredict 2.2.1 installed with Hamlib 4.0 from Debian Sid (unstable). Since the 60 meter band is channelized, only allow those frequencies to be displayed and lock out the transmitter if you're not on one of those channels. Some of the blogs discuss the challenge of configuring the IC-7600 and WSJT-X for operation using a USB cable. When not in general coverage mode, the radio stops changing frequency at the band edges.ĥ. Oddly, it drops off fats above 3.8 MHz.Ĥ. I've got something from 2 MHz to 3.8 Mhz that generates S7 or higher noise. You can see on the spectrum display that it is pulsed noise but the noise blanker can't fix it. The one on the 7600 does a very good job on most of them, like my plasma TV, but others it just won't touch. A noise blanker that does better on the newer pulse interference from LED lights and other electronics.

Still have a manual override capability but switch to CW in the CW section and SSB in the SSB section.ģ. Change the operating mode depending on the frequency. I programmed that on the 7600 tediously but the red TX light just dims a bit when moving out of my privilege range.Ģ.

A setting for hams to select their license classification and the radio automatically sets transmit limiters so you can't accidentally transmit out of band.
